We're expecting our first baby!
I found out about our little bun in the oven on April 27th. It was a Tuesday. I was in shock. While we had given it the ol' college try that month, but for some reason I just didn't think it would take. I just stared at my test in disbelief. It read clear as day "pregnant". I said no way, this digital test must be wrong. I ran to the store and bought 2 more boxes. At work through out the day, I tested myself a few more times. Then again that evening at home. 5 tests later and I finally believed it. I decided not to tell Justin that night. I wanted to do something special, so I waited for the next night. Wednesday nights, he has band practice and I go to my parents for dinner. I always bring him something to eat from their place. So when he got home (I was getting ready for bed), he asked me if there was food. I said there is a bag in the fridge for him and I left him a treat in the oven. The oven treat sounded peculiar to him as I've never left him a treat in the oven before. He thought maybe it was a delicious desert of some sort....well it sort of was?! I had placed a hot dog bun in the oven with a little sign on it that read "We have a bun in the oven". I was standing in the hallway waiting for his reaction. He peeped his head out into the hallway and said "Really?!" "Yes!!!" Big hugs of happiness, then I was off to bed.
That Wednesday I had also gone in for my blood test and got my results on Thursday. My OB wanted to see me right away because my progesterone was low. Wait, what does this mean? So I AM pregnant then? This is total confirmation? What is progesterone, what?! I did my google research and found out this could be bad. Low progesterone usually means miscarriage. On Friday I went to my OB and had my first Ultrasound. Turns out I was 5 weeks and our due date is 12/31/10!!!
This made is official...We're having a baby!!!
This made for an incredibly wonderful anniversary weekend. Not only did we get to celebrate our amazing marriage, but now there are 3 of us!!! We were on cloud 9. Oh and boy did the morning sickness start to kick in. Oofa. That's rough!
So I am now 12 weeks along and ready to tell the world! Its been a bumpy road with the morning sickness, but that means all is well from what I've been told. I've had 3 Ultrasounds with my OB and I went in for the NT testing on Monday and baby is looking perfect!!! I am starting to pop out a bit, and am happily moving on to maternity jeans. Man these things are comfortable! Who knew?! I can wear these all the time, pregnant or not! We've our families and tomorrow night we are going to announce on Facebook.
This is it. Welcome to our journey into Parenthood!
